A vision for the future space

A place to move in your own way.

I want to create an open, practical sports studio where people’s different needs are a normal part of planning activities. This is currently a vision for a future space. A location and opening date have not yet been announced.

An idea I want to turn into a place

A place where
more stories could begin.

A functional, accessible and lively sports space. Somewhere to move at your own pace, train and be part of a community.

This visualisation illustrates the idea. Premises have not yet been chosen, and the final layout will depend on the space available.
Room to move

More freedom.
Fewer barriers.

Free weights, an open functional training area and wide routes through the space. Accessibility needs to be considered from the very first decision.

A place in everyday life

Movement has a place
in a parent's life, too.

The idea is to make it possible to exercise with a young child in a safe place nearby. A separate childcare service is not planned for the initial stage.

From idea to action

Help me
bring this idea to life.

I am looking for opportunities to discuss suitable premises, equipment, expertise and joint projects.

This illustrates the direction for a future space. Specific arrangements for safety, visibility and children’s presence will be developed when planning the actual premises.

Starting with people’s needs

Working with people with disabilities has shown me how much depends on the environment: access, equipment, clear routes and how a session is organised. Becoming a mother also helped me understand how caring for a young child and inflexible schedules can make exercise difficult.

In the future studio, I would like to combine independent exercise, individual coaching and group sessions. People could choose according to their goals and circumstances. I would look for a suitable format for those who need individual attention, while those able to train independently would also have that option.

Practical design and room to move

The foundation would be free weights, functional movement and a clearly organised space. I also envisage machines useful for targeting particular muscle groups. The choice of equipment should follow the activities and people’s needs.

I want a straightforward studio where most of the floor area is devoted to movement. A large reception or separate lounge is not an initial priority. Below are ideas for training areas, to be adapted to the premises eventually chosen.

  • Free weights area. Barbells, dumbbells, racks and benches arranged with room to approach, set up an exercise and pass other people. Equipment storage should keep movement routes clear.
  • Functional training area. Open space for individual training and groups working at different intensities. Moveable equipment would allow the layout to change for each session.
  • Rowing technique area. Rowing machines with enough room for a coach alongside, for teaching technique and preparing for rowing exercises.
  • Martial arts area. A space another coach could use, for example for kickboxing sessions, at designated times. At other times, it could accommodate other suitable activities.
  • Space for parents with a child. A corner for a child or pushchair, visible from the exercise area and separated from free weights and active movement routes. The layout would depend on the children’s ages and the premises.
  • Essential facilities. Changing rooms, storage and toilet facilities, planned as part of the accessibility of the whole studio.

Accessibility from the start

The aim is to plan premises with comfortable access, clear routes, accessible equipment and clear information before a visit. Changing and toilet facilities, as well as the practical availability of assistance, also matter.

These are principles for choosing a future venue. Specific arrangements will be published once premises have been selected and their possibilities assessed.

For parents with young children

I would like parents to be able to exercise while their child stays in a safe place nearby. This idea requires a suitable layout, clear conditions and an understanding of the exercising adult’s responsibilities.

A childcare service is not planned for the initial stage. A separate children’s area or childcare provision could be considered later, based on actual demand and resources.

How the space could work

Independent access would be coordinated with group timetables and bookings. Groups would have designated times and areas reserved in advance, so visitors would know which parts of the space were available.

Where the premises allow, music volume would be controlled separately in different areas. This would make it easier to accommodate an energetic group class alongside quieter individual training. The aim is a lively, welcoming atmosphere with room for different paces.

I see opportunities to work with other coaches and physiotherapists. Each specialist’s services would be presented according to their actual qualifications and agreed offering.

The first goal is the space itself

First, I need to define the scope of the activities, find suitable premises and plan any adaptations. Training options, collaboration with other specialists, events and camps could then grow over time.

If you would like to discuss premises, equipment or a joint project, get in touch. Let’s start with a specific need and what could be achieved together.
