How the Eglė Moves idea began

A space shaped by experience.

The idea for a sports space grew out of my professional and personal experiences. Working with people with disabilities and becoming a mother helped me see more clearly how our surroundings and daily routines can open up or limit opportunities to exercise.

Our surroundings shape our opportunities to take part

Through my work with people with disabilities, I have seen how sports venues can lack suitable adaptations. The facilities matter, but so do the equipment, the way sessions are run and access to clear information before arriving.

This experience has inspired me to create a space where discussing different needs is a normal part of organising sport. That would mean individual attention, as well as choices for people who can and want to exercise independently.

Motherhood brought another perspective

Becoming a mother showed me first-hand how difficult it can be to fit exercise around caring for a young child. Committing to a fixed group session is not always practical, and opportunities to exercise with your child nearby can be limited.

That is why my vision for the future studio includes parents with young children. I want to make it possible to exercise with a child nearby, but this will require suitable premises and clear arrangements. A childcare service is not planned for the initial stage.

From an idea to practical steps

I imagine an open functional training studio with free weights, room to move, and individual and group sessions. Over time, it could welcome more specialists, host community events and support the development of camp projects.

The first priority is the space itself: a suitable location, practical accessibility and a clear basis for running it. No opening date has been announced. I am sharing the vision to explain the direction and start practical conversations about working together.
